I am currently in the throes of cleaning the house I grew up in—the house where my father lived for 65 years, and where he died aged 98. His love for life was evident and he left behind so much. My sisters and I are slowly sifting through a mountain of books, documents, artwork, artifacts, clothing, furniture and photo albums. It is both beautiful and overwhelming and I feel grateful and exhausted. I also vow never to do this to my own children. I will read this book of Swedish Death Cleaning, and give my family the gift of never having to deal with my life like this after I've gone. I recommend telling you and your loved ones to do the same.
